If there’s one thing that hip-hop has learned about Shia LaBeouf in 2016, it’s that he can freestyle his tail off. The 30-year-old actor earned his stripes over the past month and a half after he unleashed a series of rhymes targeted at Drake, Lil Yachty and Soulja Boy.
When asked to freestyle, the Holes star unabashedly spewed bars for those willing to listen. He might not astound listeners with his choppy delivery, but his ability to string words together off the dome has the Internet applauding the on-screen star.
Take a look at some of LaBeouf’s best hip-hop moments below.
Shia LaBeouf break-dances and freestyles during his interview on The Late Late Show
In 2003, a baby-faced LaBeouf landed on Craig Kilborn’s The Late Late Show to promote his Project Green Light movie The Battle of Shaker Heights. Not only did the former Even Stevens breakout break into dance to the tune of MC Hammer, but he freestyled lines about former New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey and Kilborn’s cockiness.
LaBeouf freestyles shirtless in the woods
After scorching the box office with movies like Transformers, Eagle Eye and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, LaBeouf also wound up in controversy in 2015. Marred by legal issues including trespassing, misdemeanor drunk driving, and failed court appearances, the actor became a rugged, tattooed, belligerent, freestyling machine. A shirtless LaBeouf even participated in an impromptu cipher in the woods. The drunken freestyle was recorded and quickly buoyed his way back into the limelight.
LaBeouf destroys Sway in the Morning’s 5 Fingers of Death
In November, he entered the proverbial lion’s den with Sway in the Morning’s rhyme fest test “5 Fingers of Death.” The actor effortlessly paddled his way through a bevy of classic beats including 2pac’s “Ambitions Az a Ridah” and Snoop Dogg‘s “Who Am I.” LaBeouf also threw darts at several notable rappers, including Drake and Lil Yachty. Sway even crowned LaBeouf the best actor/rapper in Hollywood.
Shia LaBeouf disses Drake, Lil Yachty, Soulja Boy, Peter Rosenberg & Vin Diesel
The morning LaBeouf demolished his freestyle on Sway in the Morning, he sent Power 105.1’s Charlamagne Tha God a freestyle after meeting him during a morning jog during his time in New York. His new set of bars consisted of a volley of shots toward Drake, Soulja Boy, Lil Yachty, Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg and Fast and the Furious star Vin Diesel.
?Shia LaBeouf takes aim at Soulja Boy
Soulja Boy called out LaBeouf and banned him from ever setting foot in Atlanta. The enigmatic actor once again attempted to trash Soulja Boy with another scathing freestyle, which he called his “last one.” “Compare me to Brando, Eminem/ Pen to pen, I’m better than him and him,” rapped LaBeouf.
