A few weeks back, Shia LaBeouf told us to “JUST DO IT.”
He wasn’t about to let his dreams slip away, and if one of them was setting the Internet ablaze by way of a random freestyle that looked like it was recorded on a camp site on the side of the interstate, then mission accomplished. This video went viral over the weekend:
But wait — there might be more shake your head at here besides Shia saying he’s so underground that rap kids call him Tubman. Two of his lines appear to be lifted from Anomolies‘ 1999 song “Perfectionist.” Check out the comparison in the video below:

Pri the Honeydark called him out on it in this Instagram post:
Shia Lebouf straight stole bars from the song “Perfectionist”, written, recorded and performed by my ANOMOLIES crew members @invincibledet and @helixxwashere in 1999! Over a DECADE ago! We are battle MCs! Step into the arena! This is straight disrespect to lyricism. #shialabeouf #DopeRhymeTaker #MCsActLikeTheyDontKnow #RappersAreInDanger #HipHop101 #Emcee #MC #Lyricist #HipHop #SpiderMan #YourFreestyleAintFree #MySpidySensesAreTingling #WeBattleMCs #anomoliesrepresentitive
“Perfectionist” was never a prominent song, but still, those similarities are pretty striking. So word to the wise, if you’re freestyling — even in a completely joking manner — it’s probably not a good idea to lift someone else’s verses.
