After flooding the rap game with releases last year, Top Dawg Entertainment is also making waves in 2017. With Kendrick Lamar topping charts with his DAMN. album and SZA‘s highly anticipated debut CTRL due June 9, ScHoolboy Q says his project may follow.
As The Fader points out, the Blank Face LP MC was one of the surprise guests for Ab-Soul’s YMF tour stop in Los Angeles last week (May 26) alongside SZA and teased, “I just might have my album for y’all after SZA, so I’m out here.”
ScHoolboy Q has been teasing his fifth studio effort, dropping hints in recent interviews and social media. At the top of the year, Q shared in an Instagram post, “New album 2017 f–k a break I’m already ready.” He added that he was “halfway done” with the album in a February interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe.
Billboard has reached out to ScHoolboy Q’s rep for comment.
