After a hellacious run in 2016 including the release of his Grammy-nominated album, Blank Face LP, ScHoolboy Q is already set on releasing new music in 2017.
On Sunday (Dec 18), Q revealed his intentions to drop another album next year. Fresh off his Blank Face tour, the West Coast rapper teased in an Instagram post: “Euros, pounds, and sum moe s-it!!! BLANKFACE TOUR IS OVER…. new album 2017 f-ck a break I’m already ready.”
Q also gushed about his daughter winning an MVP award for soccer. “5 seasons 3 MVP awards!!!! Back to soccer dad while finishing new album!!! Life is great see u soon baby,” he wrote.
In 2014, ScHoolboy Q unleashed his debut Oxymoron. The album was stacked with bangers, including “Man of the Year,” “Collard Greens” and “Studio.” Invigorated by the success of Oxymoron, Q doubled down on his efforts for his sophomore project Blank Face LP. Boasting features from Kanye West, Vince Staples, and Anderson .Paak, the set also earned Q two grammy nominations, for Best Rap Performance (“THat Part”) and Best Rap Album.
As for TDE, Q’s label/home team pushed out five projects from its artists in 2016. Top Dawg will also host their third annual holiday concert and toy giveaway. Launched in 2014, members of TDE will head over to Watts, Calif. to gift struggling families with toys and heartfelt performances.
