Russ stirred up a bit of controversy over the weekend after posting an image of himself clad in a black anti-drug t-shirt, prompting fans to quickly address the rapper’s clothing choice. Russ defended his custom anti-drug T-shirt in a series of tweets and called out hip-hop for glamorizing drug abuse, criticizing rappers for the messages their lyrics are sending to their fan bases.
Russ tweeted “After show. Message.” along with a photo of the controversial shirt that read, “How Much Xans and Lean Do You Have To Do Before You Realize You’re A Fucking Loser?” One user responded by telling the rapper that his shirt was “wack” and he should’ve researched the topic further before blaming others.
“If I stopped ONE kid from abusing xans or lean, mission accomplished..better than getting ONE kid to try that shit. Period.” Russ wrote in one tweet as his’ t-shirt garnered hundreds of replies. “Doing xanax and lean cuz your favorite rapper makes it sound cool is all fun and games till your impressionable ass gets addicted. Stop.”
He later added that he doesn’t mind being “the bad guy” and blasted rappers for promoting drug abuse in their music. “A lotta rappers have romanticized & glorified drug abuse. That shits not cool. Peoples lives get ruined from that shit. Grow up.”
