The accolades keep pouring in for one of music’s most successful artists. Earlier this week (May 22), the Parsons School of Design honored Rihanna thanks to her charitable endeavors, Harper’s Bazaar reports. Not to forget her fashionable plays, the school, of course, gave a nod to Rih’s headlining wardrobe.
In addition to the distinction, the Bajan superstar will send three students to Haiti to work with local fashion designers to create a line for her Clara Lionel Foundation. Per the fashion news site, the “Work” singer also dedicated a majority of her speech to the young generation and encouraged them to shoot for the stars despite the obstacles they might encounter.
“You should be celebrated for every aspect of your growth and your growing pains. You should be celebrated for your creativity, for your fearlessness, for your persistence and determination,” she said. “You should be celebrated for all the effort that you put into building your future, for being different, for not being given enough credit…we often tear our youth down when we should be building them up. At the end of the day, our future is in their hands.”
