Rick Ross is right back with Rather You Than Me, his ninth studio album.
The four-time Grammy-nominated hip-hop star’s guest-stacked new album arrived at midnight and includes “I Think She Like Me,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, the first official single which dropped earlier this year, and the street anthem “Summer Seventeen.”
The 14-track set features a rollcall of guest rappers, from Gucci Mane and Meek Mill to Future, Yo Gotti, Raphael Saadiq, Jeezy, Nas and more. Even Chris Rock — the actor and comedian who attended the album’s listening party earlier this month — makes an appearance on the Birdman diss track “Idols Become Rivals.”
To celebrate his new release, the Maybach Music Group leader dropped the video for album track “Trap Trap Trap,” featuring Young Thug and Wale.
Ross holds Rather You Than Me close to his heart. “This album is more than just another project for me. It’s a product of strength, perseverance and determination. Rather You Than Me is testimony,” he wrote in a recent blog post. “I owed this to my supporters. Y’all that been rocking with me since we came out the Port of Miami. Without you none of this shit really means anything. Rather You Than Me...I hope y’all feel this.”
Rozay has led the Billboard 200 with five separate titles: Port Of Miami (from 2006), Trilla (2008), Deeper Than Rap (2009), God Forgives, I Don’t (2012) and Mastermind (2014). Rather You Than Me is the MC’s first LP released under Epic Records, since he left his previous label Def Jam back in 2016.
