After nabbing two Grammy nominations for her fiery collaboration “All the Way Up” with Fat Joe, Remy Ma is on the prowl. On Sunday (Dec. 25), Internet critics pondered whether the Terror Squad lyricist was sending jabs towards Nicki Minaj with her scathing new verse on Phresher’s “Wait a Minute (Remix).”
“Same b-tches call me, that’s how I knew y’all was phony/ I put putting that work, taking ’em to church, cause I leave ’em holy/ Will I smoke this b-tch? Yes/ Probably fail my piss test/ Get rid of those fake breasts/ And put a vest on this b-tch chest,” raps Remy on the remix featuring 50 Cent.
The precocious lyricist continued to fire off even more bars, which further fueled speculation. “It’s lunch time, she food/ I’m Troy Ave with that tool/ Both hands on it like noon/ Remy Ma, I’m a goon/ The city big, I’m state time/ I’m snatching wigs like waistlines/ Crack a b-tch with my cellphone, really put her on Facetime.”
Back in October, Minaj was open to entertaining the idea of teaming up with Remy during an interview with Ebro in the Morning. “When I was working on The Pinkprint, I wanted to do a song with Remy and Foxy [Brown], and I still have the song to this day,” she said. “It was on a Diplo beat, but it was super-hood and hard.” Later, she hinted that “it’s only a matter of time before [Remy] and I do something.”
In the past, Samuels claimed Minaj didn’t pen her own songs, though he later rescinded those statements. On her verse, Remy Ma also took aim at a female act with a ghostwriter, spitting, “That ghostwriter bout to call her/That lifeline getting shorter / RIP Biggie Smalls, why the f–k they ain’t want her?”
Billboard reached out to Remy Ma’s rep for comment.
