The track features both MCs in peak form, as Remy asserts her dominance at the top of the rap game. “I get a lot of money, honey/ Queen Bitch I been, bitch,” she raps, as Kim provides a soulful, singsong hook.
“I wanted to pay homage to Kim. I feel like she is like the Madonna of the hip-hop world to me,” Remy told Beats 1 Radio host Zane Lowe on Wednesday (Nov. 8). “I’m like, ‘Listen, I want you on this record, but I just want you to be Kim. I want you to be the girl that was squatting down in a leopard thong.’”

Last week, Billboard confirmed that Remy inked a multimillion-dollar deal with Columbia Records.
In February, Remy dropped, Plata O Plomo, her collaborative album with Fat Joe, which was followed up two weeks later by “ShETHER,” an incendiary, seven-minute diss track aimed at Nicki Minaj, one of several volleys the two rappers served back and forth over the course of the year. Some fans have already interpreted Remy’s bars — “You fake-ass bitch, you owe homage, pay that shit/ Spray that fif’, the crown, I’mma take that shit” — as her vow to dethrone her rival from atop the female rap roost.
Diss or no diss, “Wake Me Up” is a boisterous track that’s sure to drum up hype for 7 Winters & 6 Summers, scheduled for an early 2018 release.
