Rae Sremmurd’s affinity for comic books have always been high. In a new collaboration with Valiant, the “Black Beatles” duo paired up with the renowned superhero publisher to produce their first comics project titled SHADOWMAN/RAE SREMMURD #1 .
Written by Eliot Rahal, the forthcoming comic details the showdown between the epic superhero Shadowman and the hip-hop tandem. For Slim Jxmmi, teaming up with Valiant was a dream come true.
“Comic books are a form of entertainment. I get to make all the sounds and effects in my head. It’s just like you use your imagination – you go through the pictures and the pictures are always awesome. It’s like an escape from reality,” he said in a statement to Billboard.
“Shadowman is crazy,” he added. “It has a lot of twists and turns. It keeps me involved and interested. I can’t even take my eyes off of Shadowman when I read it. I have to finish the book.”
The story line for SHADOWMAN/RAE SREMMURD #1 debut comic will consist of the “No Flex Zone” duo heading to New Orleans for a once-in-a-lifetime duel with the legendary superhero Shadowman. The artwork for the forthcoming comic book was handled by Renato Guedes.
“Rae Sremmurd are huge comic books fans, and everyone here at here at Valiant is a huge fan of their music,” said Valiant CEO & Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani. “The combination of their talents, along with those of Eliot Rahal and Renato Guedes – two creators that we’re very excited about – feels like a project will take fans and readers by surprise.”
SHADOWMAN/RAE SREMMURD #1 will arrive this October.
