After delivering the lavish, futuristic visual for “Motorsport” back in December, Quavo teamed back up with Nicki Minaj for their Quality Control compilation album cut “She for Keeps” and officially unveiled the colorful accompanying video on Tuesday (Jan. 8).
The romantic visual finds the rappers taking a trip back into time as the DAPS- and Quavo-helmed video begins with a figure placing a cassette tape into a boombox before Quavo appears, clad in a neon-green fanny pack and a vibrant silk shirt. In the throwback-themed clip, Quavo stands in front of a bright-pink home with a neatly cut lawn as he gushes over his lady — in this case, Minaj — and encourages her to “drop off your old boy, then get with me.”
As Quavo and Nicki whisper sweet nothings in each other’s ear, the pair decides to take their romance to a retro diner for a date where they continue their romantic exchanges and hold hands over burgers and fries. “When the block starts to get hot he know I’ll hide his burners I’m from keeps, I am for keeps, she can’t compete/ He ain’t stupid enough to lose me to another n—a in them streets,” Nicki raps while getting dolled up in a bathroom mirror surrounded by a group of girls.
On Monday, Quavo updated fans that he’s been hard at work “mixing” Migos’ forthcoming project Culture 2 amid all the other activities he’s been tied up in as of late. “C N T S L E E P U G A Beat BAMA And I’m Me Nd Durel Mixing Culture II Anniversary Coming Up C U L T U R E B D A Y,” he wrote on Twitter, although the upcoming album hasn’t landed an official due date yet.
