In 2017, Migos’ Quavo has quickly ascended up the hip-hop totem pole with his infectious features. Now, the 26-year-old frontman is showcasing his talents as a solo star with his new cut “Paper Over Here.”
With OG Parker on the boards, Quavo croons about his affinity for dollar bills. “New money, blew hunneds, no I ain’t runnin from it/ Got foreign currency from doin’ shows across the country/ Case of emergency I got some more money stashed/ Wish my n—–s seen how far we came it makes me sad,” sings Quavo.
Drenched in auto-tune, he scripts a simple, but poignant hook to lure his listeners in. “I’m getting new paper over here,” he chants.
Despite the hip hop triumvirate earning a No. 1 album with Culture, Off-set and Quavo have steadily entertained the thought of solo endeavors. Recently, Off-set released his cut “Monday.” In addition to Quavo’s new solo track, he has been working diligently with Travis Scott on their collaborative project, and has a song with One Direction’s Liam Payne coming May 19.
