LeBron James is the new king of Los Angeles. The Lakers star made his grand debut Thursday, but LA fell victim to the Portland Trail Blazers in their season opener, even though James still managed to pour in 26 points and grab 12 rebounds. Now, the entire NBA fanbase turns its focus to LeBron’s cinematic Staples Center debut against the Houston Rockets on Saturday night. In anticipation of the highly touted match-up, ESPN has tapped sports fanatic Quavo to pen a fresh track in promotion of King James’ home opener.
With Huncho being a good friend of LeBron’s, the Migos frontman is actually the perfect artist to rise to the occasion. The 27-year-old’s basketball-themed tune will premiere on ESPN, coinciding with the 10:30 p.m. ET tip-off just prior to game time in La La Land.
Quavo’s DJ Durel-produced track marks the first of many contributions coming as a result of Quality Control Music and ESPN’s brand-new partnership. “King of LA/ King of LA/ MVP MVP times four/ Year 16, never know how long ago/ Knocking at the championship’s front door,” the ATL native raps in the song’s teaser.
Check out a preview of Quavo’s track below. Don’t miss LeBron James’ Staples Center debut when the Lakers take on the Houston Rockets at 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night on ESPN.
