Prince is giving social media another go. The Purple One, who had a brief dalliance with Twitter and Facebook last year, has launched an Instagram account.
The reclusive artist cranked-up his Princestagram page (he has Jimmy Fallon to thank for the snappy title) where he’s gone and posted 88 items in just over two days. In a sign that he might finally have the hang of social media (and that his sense of humor remains intact) there’s a good smattering of Prince-related memes among his posts, including Dave Chappelle’s infamous portrayal of the master musician.

He’s also shared a bunch of live shots, cover art and older publicity snaps. Check out some of the posts below.
Prince took the social media route when he released two albums in 2014 — the solo set Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum, which he recorded with3rdEyeGirl. After both sets went to No. 1 on dual Billboard charts, the admitted Luddite abruptly dismantled his Facebook and Twitter accounts, his brief, and sometimes awkward flirtation with social media seemingly done for good.
Prince’s fresh start with Instagram follows the release last month of HITNRUN Phase One, his thirty-eighth studio album. He earned his 25th top 10 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with the No. 8 debut of the new set.
