Post Malone slapped a release date and title on his forthcoming album to kick off the week. Posty announced early Monday (Aug. 26) morning that Hollywood’s Bleeding will finally release on Sept. 6. Malone’s manager, Dre London, also confirmed that Post’s third studio LP would drop next Friday (Sept. 6).
“It’s been hard trying to keep this info away from the [world] especially when it’s gonna be the best birthday present ever! let’s all celebrate together Album Is Called ‘Hollywood’s Bleeding’ & is [fire],” London wrote.
Even during the time between Beerbongs & Bentleys and Hollywood’s Bleeding, Malone hasn’t let up on his firm chokehold on the Hot 100, as the Young Thug-assisted “Goodbyes” has made a home in the top 10, in addition to “Wow.” and “Sunflower” being chart staples for the hitmaker all year.
With details of the project remaining mum, Post has left much up to fans’ imagination at least until next week. Here are five things we want from Hollywood’s Bleeding.
1. Where is “Circles?”
During the NYC stop of his Bud Light Dive Bar Tour at the top of August, Malone debuted “Circles” during the energetic set, which he then claimed would release the following week as a single. The Texas transplant described the intoxicating song as “a little fucking different, it’s got a fucking fat groove.” Posty also teased the track during his August appearance on Fallon. With time running out for “Circles” to release before the album, here’s to hoping the infectious tune featuring an earworm for a hook hasn’t been scrapped altogether, and makes an appearance on Hollywood’s Bleeding.
2. Finish “Easier”
Earlier in August, a Post Malone reference track hit the internet that is oozing with hit potential. It remains unknown if the track will appear on Hollywood’s Bleeding, as some in the Genius community have speculated that the record, tentatively titled “Easier,” was a throwaway from B&B sessions. The unfinished leak is an easy listen and widely relatable for fans, as many of Posty’s mega hits usually are. The tune finds Posty wondering when life’s journey is going to begin to make a turn for the better.
3. Collab With SZA Confirmed
SZA has made a concerted effort to devote her creative energy where she sees an authentic fit, rather than just hopping on a record as a favor. During a recent interview on Kerwin Frost Talks (Aug. 19), Solana made note that she just completed a feature she was more proud of with Post Malone. “I can listen to the (DJ) Khaled record and know that that’s not me. One hundred percent. It’s not me. I can listen to the Cardi record and know that that’s not me,” SZA said. “Or I can listen to the song that I just did with Post Malone, and then be like, ‘That’s me, a little more.'”
4. Collide Worlds With Billie Eilish
Post Malone is a darling in the streaming world, as his sophomore album shattered first-day streaming records at the time on Spotify last April. Enter teenage sensation Billie Eilish, and a collaboration would possibly crash Nielsen’s measuring database. The pair of pop interlopers refuse to be pigeonholed into a sole genre, so there’s no telling what music crafted by the eclectic duo would sound like, but we’d sure be down to find out.
5. Don’t Let the Bieber-Posty-Kanye Greatness Go to Waste
Post Malone has worked with Kanye West and Justin Bieber a lot more than a simple scan of streaming services would lead on. Countless leaks have found their way online over the course of the past year. Some have speculated that the tracks are from the 2016-2017 era when West was working on his now-shelved Turbo Grafx 16 album. Leaks such as “No Reason” sound pretty much finished, while others like “Fuck the Internet,” find West mumbling and exchanging verses with his “Fade” collaborator about the toxic culture of social media. It would be a shame to let the output from three of music’s brilliant minds sit locked in the stash.
