Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Popa Wu has passed away, Billboard confirmed Tuesday (Dec. 17). With details surrounding the situation remaining scarce, many in the Wu-Tang Clan family have already publicly paid their respects with tribute posts dedicated to the late Wu mentor.
GZA, Raekwon, Method Man, DJ Mathematics, Ghostface Killah, U-God, Young Dirty Bastard, DJ Premier and more shared kind words eulogizing the Five-Percent Nation member. Popa Wu also appeared on records like The Chef’s “North Star” and Ghost’s “Black Jesus.”
“Right now I don’t even know what to say or to how to feel, our history goes back almost 35 years, me as a young God and you the older God. I can still hear you loud as hell saying ‘NOW CIPHER!’ Coming from the back of the parliament cause someone said something wrong in the front,” Mathematics wrote.
