OG Maco has been laying low from hip-hop in recent months, and we finally know the reason as to why. The Atlanta native opened up to the public for the first time on Sunday (March 10) about how he’s been suffering from a skin-eating disease, which he says he contracted following “improper treatment” for a simple rash.
“So much healing has occurred thanks to God and my doctors that I’m willing to show all a fraction of what I’ve been going through. I was improperly treated for a minor rash and ended up with a skin-eating disease for the last few months. This is the best it’s looked,” he wrote on his Instagram story.
The 26-year-old continued to explain that the struggles with his appearance have impacted his mental state as well. “I’ve been going through alone 90% of the time without the person I love, without most of my ‘friends,’ without anything but my own strength and God,” the “Used Guessed It” rapper added. “Girlfriends/Lovers will leave you at your worst. Friendships are many times just a word. Actions are everything.” He also shared a video update.
Maco survived a near-fatal car accident back in 2016, where he partially lost sight in his right eye.
