Normani liberated another record during her TIDAL X performance on Tuesday night (Oct. 23) at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
The song, titled “Waves,” finds Normani attempting to row herself from a turbulent love affair that keeps calling her back for more. “When I have you, wanna leave you/ If you’re gone, that’s when I need you,” she sang before drowning herself in track’s intoxicating hook. According to Genius, the slow-churning song features 6LACK, who was missing in action during her live performance.

For Normani, her prowess as a solo star is quickly taking shape. Not only has she earned a top 10 Hot 100 hit with “Love Lies” featuring Khalid, she recently was featured on Quavo’s new album Quavo Huncho.
“I’ve been in the studio for the last few months just really starting from the ground up,” she told Billboard earlier this month. “I’ve been co-producing, I’ve been co-writing, I’ve been in with a lot of amazing songwriters and producers that I’ve been wanting to work with for such a long time now — that are actually fans of mine, which is kinda crazy…sonically and creatively, I’m able to do absolutely anything that I wanna do now. It’s like a kid in a candy shop. It’s overwhelming sometimes, because there’s like so much you can do but the options are limitless, so I’m excited.”
Just one day earlier (Oct. 22), the 22-year-old songbird also partnered up with Calvin Harris for two new bops titled “Checklist” and “Slow Down.”
