Victory Lap was one of the most acclaimed hip-hop albums of 2018, as Nipsey Hussle‘s long-awaited debut rightly earned a Grammy nomination in the best rap album category. The grind doesn’t stop for the business mogul, with Nip returning Friday (Feb. 22) to deliver a lavish video for his latest Roddy Ricch-assisted single “Racks in the Middle.”
The clip kicks off with Nip and the Feed Tha Streets rapper flexing in front of a fleet of exotic whips. The Compton native relishes in the spotlight, taking full advantage of the opportunity to connect with one of the best artists the West Coast has to offer; Ricch made the cut as one of our Hip-Hop/R&B Artists to Watch in 2019.
Hussle then heads to the Puma-sponsored private jet to reflect on the loss of a loved one. “Damn, I wish my n—a Fatts was here/ How you die 30-somethin’ after banging all them years/ Grammy-nominated, in the sauna sheddin’ tears/ All this money, power, fame and I can’t make you reappear,” he rhymes over the Hit-Boy production.
On Thursday, the 33-year-old was profiled in GQ alongside his girlfriend Lauren London. The celebrity couple provided fans with a glimpse into their usually very private life. Nip admits that after receiving a follow from the actress on social media when she wanted to purchase his $100 Crenshaw mixtape, he tastefully slid into her DMs, which quickly led to a dating relationship. Five years later, the pair is still together and have a son named Kross.
