Nicki Minaj transformed from superstar to superfan when she met her idol, Lauryn Hill, backstage at the Tidal X show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Saturday (Oct. 15).
“Excuse me while I have an outer body experience. Shaking, crying, a MESS!!!!,” she typed in the caption of an Instagram video of the special encounter. “– this lady is the reason. Omg. The QUEEN. In the clip, the Queens-bred rap queen bows down at Hill’s feet, saying, “I’m in love with you. I’m in love with your spirit, your mind, everything about you.” In photos of Hill and Minaj together, the Young Money MC revealed, “I quoted her in my HS YEARBOOK!!!!! Like —————-.” Hill also performed at the Tidal X show.
Minaj commanded the stage for her own set, twerking in front of a chair that may have sent her ex Safaree Samuels into a bit of nostalgia. In a now deleted tweet, the Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star shared, “you ever see a pic of some1 you use to deal with and wanna send that “wyd bighead” text.”

Minaj’s boyfriend, rapper Meek Mill, must have caught wind of the tweet, taking to his Snapchat and posting the message “hey big head.”
