While Nicki Minaj fans may have to wait a bit longer for her album Queen to be released after it was pushed back to August 10, Billboard’s Taylor Ortega decided to get the release party started early by hitting the streets to find out how well people know the lyrics to some of Minaj’s biggest hits.
Starting with “Anaconda,” participants are asked to finish the line “My anaconda don’t, my anaconda don’t / My anaconda don’t want none unless.” One guy correctly answers “you got buns, hun,” although he does point out that the credit really goes to Sir Mix-a-Lot for that one.
Moving on to “Super Bass,” people are given the lyric “Boy you got my heartbeat runnin’ away / Beating like a drum and it’s.” As any Nicki fan will know, the correct answer is “coming your way.” Host Ortega asks one person what his reaction to love is – whether it is getting scared or running towards it. His response? “I just drink. That’s my reaction.”
Finally, Nicki’s 2012 hit “Starships” is tackled, using the line “I’m on the floor, floor I love to dance / So give me more, more.” While the accurate line is “’Til I can’t stand,” one partaker gives the hilarious answer of “’Til I drop my pants.”
When it comes to the lyric “Starships were meant to fly / Hands up,” one girl shares a valuable lesson, suggesting “Don’t get high.”
