Ty Dolla $ign has been on a roll with the features from working with Lecrae on “Blessings” to Zara Larsson on “So Good” but he returns to his hip-hop roots for Nef the Pharaoh’s explicit, between-the-sheets track “Back Out.”
“This is just a fun song for the ladies. I’m more vulgar than Ty so with him on the song, it makes it less offensive, haha,” Nef tells Billboard over e-mail about the Architekz-produced beat. “We’ve known each other since my song “Big Tymin” so when I told him I needed him on it, he said to send it over and when he sent back the track, I knew it was a hit.
Nef recalls of the creative process, “When Architekz played me the beat, I started with the chorus, ‘I got something to blow your back out'” and it just sounded like a jingle to me. And then I built the song around that hook.”
The Bay Area rhymer will be dropping Chang Project on April 28. Listen to “Back Out” below.
