If you’ve driven around Los Angeles, chances are you’ve seen Mikey Mike’s billboards advertising how he owes $2.3 million in child support or encouraging you to send nudes if you’re “ginger curious” to a telephone number that’s listed next to his photo.
The red-haired mystery man whose mugshot is posted all over town is in fact a musician on the rise.
Zane Lowe premiered his Rick Rubin-produced single “Doin’ Me” in February, and he’s currently on the road with Yelawolf on his 46-date American tour. For his next trick, the rapper shares some of his favorites on the hazy “Mikey Likes It” featuring recordings from philosopher Alan Watts.
“This song is just a long list of earthly things I like,” Mike tells Billboard in a statement. “It’s just a poke at my own ego and identity. It’s also really fun to shout Mikey likes it.”
There are no plans in place to put out a full-length project. Instead, per a press release, Mike, who has lived in L.A. since 2008, plans to release singles in a string that makes up “the album to be completed upon his death.”
