The Migos and Cardi B‘s security teams look to be in the clear on assault charges, law enforcement sources reportedly told TMZ on Friday (March 22). If you recall, the original charges stemmed from an altercation with an autograph seeker pressing Cardi following an after-party for the annual extravagant Met Gala on May 8 in New York.
The victim in question, Daniel Szalkiewicz, claimed to have suffered several face and body abrasions allegedly inflicted by Cardi’s security guards, who claimed they were unsure of his intentions at the time; Cardi was seven months pregnant on the night of the alleged incident. The TMZ report states that Szalkiewicz refused to cooperate with NYPD following the incident, leading to the case being closed.
“If you check my tag pics i take a lot of pics with fans,” the “Bodak Yellow” rapper wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “Some people are not fans & sometimes i don’t want no pics and i simply don’t want people too close cause [I’m pregnant]. I don’t know what are people’s intentions sooo I Be careful. Why can’t people respect that?”
There are still pending civil lawsuits surorunding the altercation that are working their way through the court system. Billboard has reached out to reps for Cardi B, Migos and NYPD for comment.
