Since releasing his debut album The Achievement last year, Mickey Factz has kept his lyrical blade sharp.
Instead of relaxing, he quickly scurried back into the studio and sculpted new records for his recent offering, including tracks with lyrical giants Royce Da 5’9”, Skyzoo, Pharoahe Monch and more. Today, Factz unveils his new video “The Sermon,” featuring Royce, from The Achievement (Deluxe Version) on Billboard.
Clad in a black suit, Factz morphs into a hip-hop preacher, dishing out steely bars inside an empty church. “I had an outlet when I dabbled in drugs/shocking that I got mad at the plug/no curtains in the bathroom, just glass and a tub/ Are you G? You was when you took a bath in the rug,” he spits. After his blistering display, Royce Da 5’9” humbly walks inside the church and matches Factz’ lyrical mastery with bars of his own.
“I let my whole story fly at no cost to the people/While I’m talking to Joe, no Budden, Joe Walsh from the Eagles / no stuntin’, we just wrote something/ My demise was supposed to be weeks ago, keep your quotes coming.” raps the PRhyme MC.
“The Sermon was an inspirational video for me,” Factz tells Billboard. “Working with Royce was absolutely incredible. So welcoming and humble. We presented the idea to Royce and he agreed that it meshed with the overall concept. One of the best videos I’ve ever done. Visual was shot in Detroit and directed by Mr Good Evening and also features the tracks producer, Da Dreak.”
