Boom was recorded 2012 –
Cleaning out my hard drive: This is not a new song ! It’s a full length of the boom skit from MATANGI LP. Thankx— M.I.A (@MIAuniverse) February 25, 2016
The full-length “Boom” skit — the version on her 2013 LP Matangi was a minute and 15 seconds — begins with a phone call from a lawyer about the NFL lawsuit stemming from her Super Bowl XLVI halftime performance in 2012, where she flipped the middle finger. “They’re suing you for damaging their fantastic reputation by flipping the bird,” a man says on the intro. “The other part they wanted to reserve the right to sue you later to make you pay for any damages they had.”
M.I.A. Tests ‘Borders’ On Her New Song
