Megan Thee Stallion had a busy week in the lead-up to her Saturday Night Live debut this weekend. In addition to slipping into a very fashionable full hazmat suit for her SNL promo shoot with host Chris Rock, she also dropped the sizzling Young Thug collab “Don’t Stop” on Thursday night (Oct. 1) to get fans hyped for her visit to the newly re-opened 30 Rock.
In one promo for the season premiere, Meg and Rock stand side-by-side in masks, with Megan asking, “Chris, can you read my lips?,” to which the Fargo star responds, “Yes, and we can’t say that on TV!”
In the other ad, Rock, wearing a black mask with the word “ROCK” on it, says he and Megan are not at all concerned about doing the show in live in the studio after the series was forced to go remote at the end of last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Nope,” she says, slipping into frame in head-to-toe PPE.
The rapper also dropped the hard-hitting Buddha Bless-produced “Don’t Stop,” which bounces along on a insistent trap beat as she raps on the chorus, Don’t stop, pop that cat/ Mm, mm, just like that/ Mm, mm, shake that s–t (Bow, bow, bow)/ Mm, mm, work it, b—h/ Don’t stop, pop that cat (Bow)/ Mm, mm, just likе that/ Mm, mm, shake that s–t (Brr, brr, brr)/ Mm, mm, work it, b—h.”
The song was accompanied by a glossy Colin Tilley-directed video, in which Megan re-teams with the “WAP” collaborator for a truly trippy fairy tale journey. In the visual, Meg rides a giant hobby horse at a psychedelic strip club, sits on a swing as Thug transforms her topiary into animals with his razor-sharp Edward Scissorhands, and shakes it on a twerk-ified Alice in Wonderland scene while an animated Cheshire Cat gives her booty a smack.
Meg has a lot to celebrate lately, as she scored eight BET Hip Hop Awards nominations this week, to go with four E! People’s Choice Award nominations and a top rap female artist nod at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards.
