Ahead of the 2018 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players event on Thursday night, Meek Mill caught up with Billboard on the red carpet, chatting about receiving the Impact Award and when fans can expect his new album to drop.
Mill, who was given the inaugural Impact Award at the event for his activism and his fight for criminal justice reform, told Billboard that he appreciates that people are recognizing the work that he’s been putting in.
Speaking of his activism, Mill explains that with it, he took on a new mission. “I come from where I come from, and I’ve always been on that road,” he says, “But I never really had the resources to do what I’m doing now. I got the resources, I’m just putting them into action.”
During the interview, the rapper also discusses the follow-up to his 2017 record Wins & Losses, revealing that he will be dropping an album “real soon, like in a matter of weeks.”
