Philadelphia Eagles fans are riding high on the team’s conference championship win last night (Jan. 21), which will take the Birds to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2005, and only the third time in franchise history.
Before the game, the team took to the field to Meek Mill’s “Dreams and Nightmares,” and the hype was real. As John Clark, sports anchor for NBC Sports’ Philadelphia affiliate, explained, the song was played at a team meeting leading up to the game.
“Dreams and Nightmares” from Philly’s @MeekMill has become #Eagles anthem. Special teams coach Dave Fipp played it in meeting Saturday. Pregame was lit ——

When Mill was sentenced in November to two to four years in prison for violating his parole, fans began calling it a “sacrifice” needed in order for the Eagles to have a good season. After last night’s win over the Minnesota Vikings, the theory was revived.
Update: Yes. Yes they did.

The Illuminati of Philadelphia put Meek Mill in jail so that the Eagles would make the super bowl. Ultimate sacrifice.

The Philadelphia rapper’s song once again served as the soundtrack to the Eagles’ locker room celebration after the game, as seen on running back Wendell Smallwood’s Instagram story, reported by Bleacher Report.

Now, some are calling for Mill’s release, even if only for the night of the big game, because he has played such an influential role for the Eagles this season.
Still can’t get over how lit the eagles was to that meek mill — it’s sad man he needs to be out of prison enjoying this with the city smh

Picture this, it’s 8:43 on February 4. Justin Timberlake takes the stage to begin the halftime show only to be dropkicked by a freshly released Meek Mill. Dreams and Nightmares begins to play as the Patriots decide to not take the field for the second half.

Unlikely that fans will get their wish, but Philadelphians can celebrate the fact that their team has defied the odds this year, and did it while being inspired by an anthem from one of Philly’s own.
Is it sad that I’m actually like REALLY upset for Meek Mill? Like, having an impact like this for your city and sports teams but not being present to represent them in person must be devastating… at the same time uplifting.

The Eagles take on five-time Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots on Sunday, Feb. 4 in Minnesota.
