After Vanessa Bryant said Meek Mill‘s verse about late husband Kobe Bryant’s plane crash was “extremely insensitive and disrespectful,” Meek revealed that he’d apologized to her offline.
“I apologized to her in private earlier today not to the public,” Meek tweeted early Tuesday morning (Feb. 23). “Nothing I say on my page directed to a internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman! If you care about someone grieving change the subject!”
Bryant was seemingly upset when a snippet of Meek’s unreleased song with Lil Baby, “Kobe,” allegedly leaked last week, reportedly including the controversial lyric, “I’ll go out with my choppa it’ll be another Kobe.”
The widow of the Lakers legend took Meek to task on Monday night, writing via her Instagram Story, “I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period. I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this. If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact.”
While Meek said in his tweet that he’d apologized to Bryant in private, in public on Monday his original response to the backlash he received for the line appeared to be harsher. “I’m going back savage in this s–t…” he wrote. “f#%k ya feelings!”

Meek Mill is in desperate need of manhood training. There’s no way that you’re that deep in your emotions, that you respond to a widow’s request, to simply, “do better,” by replying with “fuck ya feelings.” @Mysonne is this an example of the #CowardCulture that you speak of? pic.twitter.com/apgxdqdB8I
