Maxwell gives fans an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at his international tour last year with Mary J. Blige in the documentary The King & Queen of Hearts World Tour. The 20-minute black and white film debuts exclusively on Tidal today (May 5).
In the film, shot backstage and onstage in Europe, Maxwell talks about the “family” chemistry between him and the musicians in his band, his two-decade journey from waiter to Grammy Award-winning singer and the excitement of touring with Queen Blige. “Sometimes I deliver; sometimes I don’t,” says a candid Maxwell. “But my greatest intention is to make sure that people get their money’s worth and walk away with something they can remember for the rest of their lives hopefully.”

Maxwell previously partnered with Tidal for the release of his visuals “Gods” and “1990x.” In addition, a lucky Tidal subscriber was given a VIP experience that included the chance to meet Maxwell as well as attend his show in Coney Island plus the official after party and release party.
As announced earlier, Maxwell will next launch a headlining arena tour on May 23 (his birthday). Common will join the singer and opening act Ledisi on the tour’s first two dates: Nashville and Greenville, South Carolina (May 24). Leela James will also play on select dates. Additional stops thus far include Atlantic City (May 28), Baton Rouge, Louisiana (June 3), Nassau, New York (June 10) Milwaukee (June 17) and San Diego (June 23).
