“The story behind this track is crazy,” producer Dame Grease told Complex. “I had been working with Joe Young out of Germany and he had an unreleased song with Max B from before Max got locked up. When the controversy over Kanye considering naming his album WAVES and the dispute between Wiz Khalifa and Kanye happened, I spoke to Joe and said the time was right to let the world hear Max again.”
Last month, West and Wiz were tangled in a Twitter feud when the Pittsburgh MC expressed discontent with West’s plan to name his album Waves. Khalifa pledged allegiance to Max, tweeting, “Max B is the wavy one. He created the wave. There is no wave without him. He’s the reason I sing on all my songs. That’s the wave. If theres nothing wit that sound ITS NOT WAVY.”
Max B recently hosted the Wave Gods mixtape by close collaborator French Montana, who told Billboard that a potential French, Max and Wiz record may end up on the Bronx spitter’s forthcoming Mac & Cheese album. Max’s Gain Greene team is also expected to release a project this year.
