After much anticipation, Mariah Carey releases her latest single, “The Art of Letting Go.”
The heartfelt ballad, produced by Rodney Jerkins, finds Mariah showcasing her vocal prowess as she sings of life after heartbreak . “Letting go ain’t easy/ It’s just exceedingly hurtful/ Cause somebody you used to know is flinging your world around/ And they watch as you’re falling down,” she belts.
“This is such a personal record to me,” she posted on Facebook today (Nov. 11). “I wrote the lyrics so that anyone and everyone could relate to them and hopefully release anything that they need to let go of that’s holding them back or bringing them down.”

“The Art of Letting Go” follows up her duet with Miguel, “#Beautiful.” The single peaked at No. 15 on the Hot 100 chart earlier this year.
Mariah has been working closely with Jermaine Dupri on her follow-up to 2009’s “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” but delayed the album due to a shoulder injury. Early last month (October), she alerted fans that she was on her “way to a full recovery” and to expect new music “very soon.”
