This time last year, MAJOR. was getting his first taste of major (excuse the pun) success with “Why I Love You.” Co-signed by soul diva Patti LaBelle and also a 2016 wedding favorite, the single became the singer/songwriter’s first top 15 hit.
Now MAJOR. has aimed his double-barrel vocals — smooth tenor/silky falsetto — at another timeless ballad. “Honest,” the first single from MAJOR.’s 2018 sophomore album, reunites the singer with “Why” producer Harmony Samuels (Ariana Grande). And like its predecessor, “Honest” boils down complex emotions into a simple, on-point message. Check out the video below, premiering on Billboard today (Oct. 20) in tandem with the single’s release.
Check out “Honest”:
“I wanted to give voice to the pain and shame we often keep locked inside,” says MAJOR. of being forthright in relationships. “So now that you know who I am, will you still love me for me? My hero Michael Jackson dared us to face ourselves in ‘Man in the Mirror.’ ‘Honest’ is my response.”
Fans can expect MAJOR.’s yet-untitled sophomore set to be released in first quarter 2018, once again through BOE/Empire. The singer describes the album’s focus as “anthem music for everyday life; simple melodies laced with epic musicality.”
