Mac Miller may not always keep it mom-friendly but there are surely a few out there stoked the Pittsburg rapper opted to drop a new mixtape on their special holiday.
Miller’s 24-track “Faces” includes features from the likes of ScHoolboy Q, Sir Micheal Rocks, Earl Sweatshirt, Ab-Soul, Thundercat, Rick Ross, Vince Staples, Da$H and others. Just as mixtapes have shaped Miller’s career (this is his 11th), defining his life journey and evolution as a wordsmith, “Faces” shows him introspective, ruminating over his drug use, fame and past.
And, yup, he mentions his mom too. On the Earl Sweatshirt-sponsored “New Faces” where he raps: “Just went through a half ounce of coke, blood pouring all out my nose/Don’t tell my Mama I got a drug problem, I’m f-cking high, we publicized when the sun go down, I come alive.”
In January Miller announced he would be leaving Rostrum Records, the independent label that helped build him from an underground mixtape hero into a chart-topper with his 2011 debut album “Blue Slide Park”.
Miller’s “Faces” is available for download at his site oldjewish.com. To download, one must make a “sammich” and provide his or her email address.
