During a press run to promote his latest album, The Divine Feminine, Mac Miller paid a visit to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club on Thurs. (Sept. 22). Though he discussed his latest project and his sobriety, the Pittsburgh native couldn’t escape the one topic everyone wants to ask him about: Ariana Grande.
Mac Miller and Ariana Grande took their relationship public after the couple got tattoos together (and were even seen kissing) back in August. Though the relationship is fairly new, make no mistake — Grande isn’t the subject of his current project. “Timetable-wise, how quickly do you think I can make an album?” the rapper questioned.
Host Angela Yee went on to ask Miller if the pop princess was his “dream woman.” Miller confirmed that she was, noting that even though they’re a couple now, the pair were just “really close friends” back in 2013 when they first collaboarated on Grande’s breakout hit “The Way,” which peaked at no. 9 on Billboard‘s Hot 100.
“That is a true thing in my life, she’s amazing,” Miller spoke openly of the songstress. While many may speculate the motive behind the new relationship was career-related — given that The Divine Feminine just recently dropped — he assured the Breakfast Club hosts that his relationship wasn’t strategically planned; he’s “just a man in love”.
“Just because we are two people who are in love and have a great relationship doesn’t mean that I’m gonna get weird about this incredible music that we also make together,” Miller added. “All I’m saying is, ‘Yeah we’re together, cool.'”
