On Monday, Lupe Fiasco returned with a new track titled “Running From President” to commemorate Food & Liquor 2’s five-year anniversary.
The smooth soundscape produced by Soundtrakk allows Fiasco to delve into a myriad of topics ranging from Trump to the KKK to Brexit. “Flow is European Union, pizza like Brexit/ Was restless, me and chilling go together like Netflix,” he raps. Later, Fiasco spears the embattled president and says that he’s “on acid.”
“Running From President” comes on the heels of Trump’s controversial comments against the NFL, in which he lambasted players for not standing for the National Anthem. “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now,” spewed Trump last Friday night in Alabama. “Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!'”
For Fiasco, “Running From President” serves as his first track since his track “Coulda Been,” which he released in May. Earlier this year, he dropped his sixth album, Drogas Light.
