After making his debut on the Billboard charts in April thanks to breakout hit “Wrong,” Luh Kel looks to carry the momentum he garnered into the summertime with the love-tinged “BRB.” The St. Louis-born artist premieres the fresh track’s official lyric video on Friday (June 14) with Billboard below.
“The song is my bounce back after being wronged by a girl and me wanting to just have fun and not settle by telling one shorty that caught my eye, I will ‘BRB’ don’t trip,” Kel explains of the song’s inspiration. “After heartbreak you gotta find a way to bounce back! ‘BRB’ is my bounce back joint!”
The lyric video makes use of graphics from iMessage and other iPhone features to get his point across, which is how most of the youth communicates these days anyway. “Wanna thank all my supporters for the great success of my first single ‘Wrong.’ I have another Luh Kel original ‘BRB’ that I want you all to enjoy and run up them streams,” the emerging teen sensation concludes.
“Wrong” peaked at No. 37 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart back in May. The record received a considerable boost from the #WrongChallenge taking off on the TikTok app. Let’s see if “BRB” can make Kel’s already memorable 2019 even more impactful, as he readies a new EP.
