Logic takes it back to his roots by bringing back his alter ego of Young Sinatra on his latest track “The Return,” out today (Aug. 24). The hard-hitting tune finds the Maryland native floating over production from frequent collaborator 6ix, who samples Nina Simone‘s “Wild Is the Wind” into the melody.
“The Return” inserts a chorus from Logic’s 2012 “Dear God” track. Here, the 28-year-old boldly calls out Jay-Z to collaborate on an upcoming song. He also has some choice words for Donald Trump and is still waiting on Nike to ink him to a sponsorship deal.
“I’m heartless like Kanye in ’08/Yeah that’s word to No I.D/Now they all know who I be/I’m callin’ out Jay-Z to jump up on the track with me and smack the whole industry/Show ’em what that real rap do/The ball’s in your court, Hov/I hope to hear from Guru, woo,” Logic raps to conclude the fiery track.
The Def Jam artist’s latest release arrives on the heels of his moving “One Day” performance at the 2018 VMAs Monday (Aug. 20).
