Logic (aka Bobby Hall) is adding “novelist” to his dynamic résumé, as his first novel, Supermarket, hits the shelves on Tuesday (March 26).
The Grammy-nominated rapper created a thriller with hints of dark humor that tells the story of Flynn, the main character, who is “depressed, recently dumped and living at his mom’s house,” according to a press release. When he gets a job in his suburban town’s local supermarket called Muldoon’s, things start to pick up — only to turn dark again as he arrives to work one day to a crime scene.
To accompany the rapper’s first book, which is distributed by Simon & Schuster, he teamed up with Canadian singer-songwriter Mac DeMarco on some of the 13 tracks on the soundtrack. The record features trippy rap songs as well as more melodic, acoustic guitar-driven sounds, with Logic even dipping his toes into singing rather than rapping on tracks like “DeLorean.”
“I wanted to use my novel as an opportunity to challenge myself musically diving into a completely new genre,” Logic said in a press release statement.
Fans can now buy the book and stream the soundtrack on various platforms.
