Lil Wayne has stepped in to replace an injured Childish Gambino on the second weekend of the ACL Fest in Austin, Texas. The festival announced the news on Thursday (Sept. 27) with a tweet that read, “We’re celebrating Lil Wayne’s birthday today in the best way possible. We’re adding him to the Saturday, Weekend 2 #ACLFest Lineup!” French pop group Justice has also been added to the bill on both Saturdays (Oct. 7 and 14) alongside headliners Metallica and Travis Scott will headline both Sundays (Oct. 7 and 14) with Arctic Monkeys.

Gambino (actor Donald Glover) was forced to cut his final tour short after reportedly struggling with an injured foot during the This is America outing. Fam Rothstein, co-principal of the creative collective Wolf + Rothstein, a partnership with Glover and Chad “The Wolf” Taylor, took to Twitter to assure fans the dates were “postponed, not cancelled,” and that Glover “played through the pain, but has to sit some dates out. Back before the year’s over.” The rapper had been slated to headline on both ACL Sundays (Oct. 7 and 14). And while it’s a bummer for Gambino fans, it’s a double celebration for Wayne, who will headline ACL after finally released his long-awaited Tha Carter V on Friday (Sept. 28).
According to TMZ, Glover hurt himself on stage at Dallas’ American Airlines Center last weekend, and was unable to complete the last 30 minutes of his set. Some observers claimed he may have aggravated a preexisting injury.
Childish Gambino has been forced to postpone his tour due to injury and will not be appearing at #ACLFest. Justice and Metallica will headline both Saturdays, Travis Scott and Arctic Monkeys will headline both Sundays. Sched info: https://t.co/o4UPtXyO1z
