Jennifer Hudson is known for her killer pipes. But, as it turns out, she’s got bars, too. She proved it on night two of James Corden’s week-long Late Late Show home visit in London when she took on the UK native in the latest edition of “Drop the Mic” on Wednesday night (June 7). In an epic battle that saw the two exchange vicious barbs, JHud came out swinging, adding a fourth threat to her triple-stacked belt.
Wearing a sparkly black hoodie, Hudson looked unimpressed after Corden opened with a crack about how his guest was just a tourist in his city, adding, “you remember J she got famous in the states/ on American Idol for coming in seventh place… You won an Oscar for Dreamgirls I get it/ No one remembers you in that film because Beyoncé’s in it.”
That did not go over well.
“Listen London knows you James that part is true/ I can tell ’cause everyone here already hates you,” she cracked back with mic skills we didn’t know she had. “Your success in America brought us down to our knees/ Singing, ‘London, ya’ll take this fool back please.'” She topped that diss with a belly pat joke about Corden’s expanding waistline. “Now no more fat jokes, ’cause it’s below the belt/ I mean it though but you can’t see it though, just like your penis.”
Put it this way: after Corden reminded Hudson that she lost a contest Bo Bice won and was the worst part of Sex and the City, she countered with lines about his relentless chase of YouTube views while mentioning her Oscar and Grammy count. Game. Set. Match.
