Chinese-Canadian rapper Kris Wu shared his new single “Like That” today (May 20). It’s a woozy summer melody that has the hip-hop artist singing about trying to take a chance on a girl as he layers harmonies and reverberating, Auto-Tuned sing-song rap.
“Like That” is the first song released by Wu since he signed with Universal Music Group last month. The track also shot straight to the top of the U.S. iTunes real-time chart, which bodes well for Wu, and follows the trajectory of last year’s “Deserve” single featuring Travis Scott, which hit No. 44 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in November.
After getting his start as one-twelfth of the K-pop boy band EXO in 2012, Kris Wu left the South Korean music scene and went solo in 2014. He has focused heavily on the Chinese market and, after finding immense success as a singer-actor, he recently has turned his sights Stateside. Along with seeing success from his songs, he also appeared in the most recent xXx film.
