Following the horrific shootings at Orlando gay nightclub Pulse, musicians across genres have been offering their condolences, prayers for peace and thoughts on gay rights. Rapper/actor Kid Cudi took to his timeline to get a few tweets off his chest.
“My heart and prayers go out to the LGBT community and everyone affected by this tragedy. Really upset today,” he tweeted on Sunday (June 12). “I wish there was more I could do than tweet, build awareness and donate money. Thats not enough. Not for me.”

“The Hip Hop community is the least outspoken about gay rights and Ima go out my way to change that,” Cudi continued, even prompting those who take issue with gay rights to unfollow him. Rapper/singer/songwriter Ty Dolla $ign also tweeted his co-sign. “What Cudi said [—-],” wrote Ty. (Billboard has reached out to reps for Kid Cudi and Ty Dolla $ign for additional comment.)
A gunman killed 49 people and wounded 53 more at the LGBT club early Sunday morning, making it the worst mass shooting in American history.
Despite calling out some haters, Cudi shared a positive note. “Wanna say its really awesome to see so many people have my back when I speak my heart,” he tweeted, before RT-ing a link for donations to a GoFundMe for one of the shooting victims. “Love to all who are in need of it today.”
