Khalid has unveiled an introspective new song titled “Self,” off his forthcoming sophomore LP Free Spirit, today (March 28).
“I don’t need another hand, I need a couple suggestions/Always had a little trouble with self-reflections/Now, does my raw emotion make me less of a man? Hm/Always had a little trouble with self-reflections,” he croons on the chorus.
“Track 14. Self. Thursday,” the singer previously tweeted, revealing the song’s track number, title and release date. Along with the tweet, Khalid also shared a cryptic photo of power lines and a bus reflected in a trash-strewn roadside puddle filling with what appears to be blood.
Produced by Hit-Boy, the new song follows lead single “Talk” and promo tracks “Better,” “My Bad” and “Saturday Nights” in the lead-up to Khalid’s second studio album, which will be released on April 5 via RCA.
In February, the five-time Grammy nominee also announced a short film to accompany the album, which will premiere in theaters around the country during a special one-night-only event on April 3.
