Throughout his time as a performer, Brockhampton frontman Kevin Abstract has always been able to flex his undeniable skill as a rapper. But on a new track, the star shows that he knows how to bring the vocals, too.
On Wednesday (April 17), Abstract dropped “Baby Boy,” a completed version of a song Brockhampton teased in an old video clip with Jaden Smith called “Let’s Get Married.” The smooth, slow-jamming track features Abstract singing about being unable to find himself amid what sounds like a breakup. “Spent my days alone, one guy left me all alone/ He’s all I got, he’s all I got,” he sings on the track.
The video shows Abstract singing behind a set of bars, before the frame of the video splits in two, showing Abstract both in a cell and walking amongst a large crowd of emotionless teenagers. As the video closes, the crowd meets up with another crowd before combining and walking off-screen with their hands held in the air.
Along with his new track, Abstract also dropped a link in the video’s description, leading fans to a pre-order page for his next EP Ghettobaby. The Spotify page for the track lists the three songs off of Arizona Baby along with “Baby Boy” and two new tracks, titled “Corpus Christi” and “Mississippi,” respectively.
