Kevin Abstract just unveiled two EPs, but that’s not all that’s coming from the rapper on the musical front. Saturday afternoon (April 20), he revealed he’s planning on dropping his full new album next week, produced by Jack Antonoff.
“YO MY ALBUM IS OUT NEXT WEEK WHAT THE FUCK,” he unexpectedly announced in a tweet. In April he’s already released a pair of EPs with Antonoff credited, one titled Arizona Baby and the other Ghettobaby, after teasing three release dates (April 11, 18 and 25) on Instagram earlier in the month.
This weekend, he clarified the third musical release is “NOT AN EP,” but “THE WHOLE ALBUM. DONT CARE ABOUT SALES SO it DOESNT MATTER IF U LISTEN TO THE LEAK OR WHATEVER I JUST WANT FOLKS TO HOPEFULLY SEE THEMSELVES IN THE STUFF IM SAYIN – HOPE I CAN HELP SOMEONE ELSE OUT MUSIC IS POWERFUL.”
In another tweet, he offered some more details: “ARIZONA BABY (unless i decide 2 change the name) PRODUCED BY JACK ANTONOFF.” (Billboard has reached out to Abstract’s rep for comment.)
He also gave some credit to Lana Del Rey, his apparent muse. He referenced her track “Venice Bitch” as inspiration for his own project.
“thank u lana dey rey for making venice bitch and inspiring my album we used live instruments for almost every song fucking nuts jack is a wizard and thank u jaden walker for showing me Venice. Bitch and thank u Romil Hemnani for laying down the early sonic landscape for these songs,” he wrote.
Abstract then shared what appears to be album art for the tentatively titled Arizona Baby.
