It started when Swift told Rolling Stone that she raps along to Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle” when she’s feeling low. “You want to know a trick to immediately go from feeling victimized to feeling awesome?” she asked before naming the good kid, m.A.A.d. city track. “This is my go-to. I know every word.” Lamar spoke to The Associated Press about his unlikely fan in September: “I appreciate Taylor Swift for supporting not only my music but just the hip-hop culture. There’s really no gap. It’s music and it feels good.”

Lamar, who just released his “i” video, is set to drop his third album before year’s end.
