Kelly Rowland has put a wedding ring on it. The former Destiny’s Child singer quietly got hitched to her manager and boyfriend Tim Witherspoon over the weekend, sources confirm to Billboard.
The 33-year-old’s big day took place May 9 in Costa Rica, with Beyonce and her sister Solange among the guests.
Us Magazine broke the story, quoting an unnamed source who described the event as “a quick, simple ceremony — only around 30 people.”
On the same day, Beyonce shared a snap on Instagram in what appeared to be a bridesmaids dress and the simple caption: “Good morning” (prior to flying out to the holiday destination, she’d apparently shared an eventful ride in a lift with her husband and her sister).
Rowland was previously engaged to football player Roy Williams before they ended their relationship in January 2005, two months before their planned wedding.
Rowland used the platform of the “The Queen Latifah Show” last December to announce her engagement to Witherspoon. “He put a ring on it,” she said at the time, adding, “It’s been a while. We’ve kept it very, very low — for years, to be completely honest.”
It’s a particularly busy time for Rowland. Almost a year after the release of her album, “Talk A Good Game,” she’s back in the studio working on her follow-up LP, Billboard.com reports. Pharrell Williams is among the collaborators committed to work on what will be her fifth album.
“I’m at the very very beginning stages of the record. We’re at the point now where we are all talking – writers [and] producers – we’re all excited. There are fresh ideas coming into the studio right now. We’re trying different beats,” Kelly Rowland told Billboard. “It’s a really great start.”
She’s also due to appear on the Pepsi-curated “Beats of the Beautiful Game” project, which will be released June 10 to celebrate the World Cup.
