Wiz Khalifa and Kanye West became the main event on Twitter on Wednesday (Jan. 27) after the Chicago rapper announced his new album name Waves, a title that didn’t sit well with Wiz. What began as Wiz’s campaign for Max B — the incarcerated rapper known for his “wavy” movement — turned into a full-on roast from Kanye.
In case your Twitter app was deleted, here are five crucial points to understanding their timeline beef.
Kanye West Targets Wiz Khalifa in Massive Twitter Rant
Max B
The Harlem rapper — born Charly Wingate — landed a hefty 75-year prison sentence alongside his brother over a deadly robbery that took place in a northern New Jersey hotel. The former signee to Jim Jones ByrdGang roster — who often sang on his rap records — was the originator of the “wavy” movement, per Wiz Khalifa’s tweets against ‘Ye. Even rapper Styles P and producer Chase N. Cashe co-signed it.
Max B is the wavy one. He created the wave. There is no wave without him.

He’s the reason I sing on all my songs. That’s the wave. If theres nothing wit that sound ITS NOT WAVY.
— KOE (@wizkhalifa) January 27, 2016
Max b is and will always be the creator of the wave.

Don’t even play yourself by stroking your own ego tryna claim the wave. Max B. is the only curator of the Wave we’re all followers of him.
— Chase N. Cashe (@ChaseNCashe) January 27, 2016
I often speak on the wave or being wavy myself but I got it from max b we all did..so let everybody use lets just pay homage to him!!

Wiz also shared the Max B tracks “Why You Do That,” “Porno Music,” “Never Wanna Go Back” and “Lip Sing” for reference.
Amber Rose
Over his lengthy Twitter tirade, West criticized Wiz’s love life by tying in Amber Rose, the former stripper who married then divorced Wiz and also used to date West. Rose is also the mother to Wiz’s first son, Sebastian Taylor Thomaz.
Amber Rose Responds to Kanye West’s Wiz Khalifa Tweets
Here were some bullet points that have since been erased from ‘Ye’s account. “4th you let a stripper trap you, 5th I know you mad every time you look at your child that this girl for you for 18 years,” he wrote before later adding, “12th You wouldn’t have a child if it wasn’t for me. 13th You own waves???? I own your child!!!!”
It didn’t take long for Rose to speak up.
Awww @kanyewest are u mad I’m not around to play in ur asshole anymore? #FingersInTheBootyAssBitch?

KK
After his Waves-inspired stream of consciousness, Khalifa referenced KK — a marijuana strain known as King’s Kush or perhaps, the rapper’s own strain Khalifa Kush. Surrounded by the reality TV family whose last name begins with “K” on the regular, West mistook it for the initials of his wife Kim Kardashian.
“Oh n—as must think I’m not petty ’cause I’m the best that’s ever made music,” said ‘Ye in other deleted tweets. “Like, oh that’s Ye and I can put his wife’s initials on my twitter @Wizkhalifa.”
Khalifa then clarified.
Hit this kk and become yourself.

KK is weed fool. Reason’s why your not wavy. Go bacc to Swish. https://t.co/7OT4xiQa5V
— KOE (@wizkhalifa) January 27, 2016
I been smashed the idea of that album even existing. I got joints to roll @kanyewest
— KOE (@wizkhalifa) January 27, 2016
Kanye also apologized for having zero clues about KK after noting how many followers Wiz lost from their back-and-forth.
Man it’s a sad a day… Wiz lost 2 million followers since I tweeted I didn’t mean to either him like that.
— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) January 27, 2016
I’m happy that I now know that KK means weed… please excuse the confusion … now back to #WAVES

Kid Cudi
‘Ye also took aim at Wiz’s catalog by calling the Taylor Gang leader’s first single “corny as fuck.” West also claimed that Wiz swaggerjacked his frequent collaborator, rapper Kid Cudi, who helped orchestrate the chilling, emo sound of Kanye’s fourth studio offering 808s & Heartbreak.
“Bro first of all you stole your whole shit from Cudi. Second, your first single was corny as fuck and most there after,” West tweeted before using Wiz’s single “Work Hard Play Hard” as a caption for a crying Kimoji (Kim Kardashian’s emoji pack).

The Pants
In a strange turn of events, West visited Wiz’s Twitter account and complimented the rapper on his choice of legwear in his profile photo. In now-deleted tweets, Yeezy made a sartorial comment about the white pants: “I went to look at your twitter and you were wearing cool pants,” he said. “I screen grabbed those pants and sent it to my style team #Wizwearscoolpants.” Kanye then backtracked by spreading love.
What’s sad is I love Wiz and I love all all my brothers and all people
